Bamboo float tubes. These are much slimmer and lighter than many traditional bamboo float tubes. However, the largest will easily carry several slimmer floats such as crucian bristle tips, Billy Lane Darts or porkies (see review below). Maximum diameter is 2.5cm. Lengths vary - see drop down menu. Currently only 23cm and 12 cm are available.
ALL FLOATS THAT FIT INSIDE THE TUBE ON THEIR OWN HAVE THE ADD BAMBOO TUBE OPTION IN THIER LISTING. ANY THAT DO NOT HAVE THIS WILL NOT FIT.
The tubes are sealed inside and out with several coats of danish oil. Plain and scorched tubes are given a final two coats of tung oil. Whipped tubes are coated with the same lacquer used on the floats themselves. Both give a lifetime of waterproof protection.
Please NEVER put or store wet floats inside a sealed tube - allow them to dry first. For maximum longevity of your tube, pour a little danish oil inside once a year, close the cap, shake it around and leave to drain for 2 - 3 days on some kitchen paper.
A revecent review by a customer says more than I can though:
"I have a number of bamboo tubes, but the walls are so thick, you can only get a couple of floats in them. These tubes are really good in that a set of reed floats fit them with room for a few others, such as some bird quills or Porcupine quills so you have a decent selection. The finish is superb, and the whipping adds that bit of luxury to the overall effect. The bit I really liked was the bamboo cap, (unlike the usual lump of cork) the fit is perfect and is the final touch to an already great product. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a traditional float case, for themselves or as a present. As usual the reed float are Ian's top quality, and really don't need any more explanation from me". Rod Goodall

Excellent quality Bamboo tube and Crucian bristle tips
Kevin Dawson
29 October 2024
I purchased a set of Crucian bristle tip insert wagglers and a Bamboo tube to keep them safe. The quality of the Bamboo tube is excellent and the floats are outstanding, I am fishing this weekend and can't wait to try the new floats but firstly I will be taking them to my local tackle shop as the Manager has shown interest for his own collection. Craftsmanship such as this must not be allowed to fade away, I will be buying more floats from your selection. Thank you for your excellent service Ian, may it continue for many years to come. Kevin Dawson.

Thank you so much for the support and kind words Kevin. While I will never be driving a fancy car I do love what I do and hope also to be blessed to be able to keep making them for many years to come.

I have ordered and used many of Ian's floats and wanted a solid tube to store and protect them in my tackle bag. Got both the small and larger bamboo tubes which do a great job of protecting the floats and are very light and look great. May order more! Beautiful floats deserve a beautiful tube which these are!

Glad they are doing the trick and I quite agree. They are not as big, bulky or heavy as others on the market but certainly big enough to fit a days worth of floats for most anglers I think.

For me, it was a great purchase. It holds eight of my favourite floats and keeps them safe and secure. The Float Tube is excellent value and was despatched quickly.
23cm Float Tube

I have just received the 23cm Float Tube and it is well made. It holds the floats that are really treasured by me :- 4x Naiads; 2x White tipped quills; 2x Duckers and one small Chubber. I am really pleased with this purchase. The tube is 2.5cm diameter of working space and is plenty big enough for me.

Hi Dave, Glad to hear the bamboo tube is 'for four purpose' and helping keep those precious floats safe and looking stylish to boot 🤠
Too short

Apart from being too narrow to store but a couple of floats these are also far too short to hold anything worthwhile. Would not recommend.

I am sorry you feel this way Ian. The length and diameter of the tubes is clearly stated in the description. If you feel I could explain the item more clearly please do let me know. Many thanks.
Too small

A nice idea poorly executed. Tubes are far too narrow for anything other than quills really. Would not recommend this item.

Just like many others here have mentioned your workmanship is top drawer, the bamboo float tube that I received is almost too nice to use I simply cannot stop looking at it, I've already sung your praises to my fishing buddies along with some WhatsApp photos and I will most certainly be back to fill it with a selection of your glorious floats for my grandson but he's only 2 so I guess I'll have to use them for now before I pass them on, good work sir, you are most certainly loved, many thanks
